Stock Your Pantry with Local

A grocery rooted in farm relationships and local flavor

ROOTED is a locally owned grocery and coffee shop in Murchison, built to connect you with the farmers and artisans who grow and craft what ends up on your shelves. When you're looking for produce that traveled miles instead of states, or bread baked by someone you might run into at the market, this is where that search ends. It's a straightforward way to support the people doing the work in East Texas.

Alongside Flying Pig Coffee, you'll find a rotating selection shaped by what's in season and what's being harvested nearby. That means the lineup changes, but the standard stays the same: farm-grown, locally sourced, and made with care. Whether you're stocking up for the week or grabbing a coffee and a snack, you're choosing food with a story that starts close to home.

We have over a decade of experience directing farmers markets and building the kind of trust that comes from showing up season after season. That same dedication shapes every product on the shelves and every relationship behind the counter. ROOTED isn't just a place to shop—it's a reflection of what happens when local effort meets local needs.

What You'll Find When You Visit

Walking into Rooted means stepping into a space designed around what's growing and what's being made right now in East Texas. You're not navigating endless aisles or guessing where something came from—everything here has a clear origin and a reason for being on the shelf. From the moment you browse the produce to the time you pick up a loaf or order a drink, you know what you're getting and who made it possible.

Each product reflects a partnership with someone local, whether that's a farmer bringing in greens or a baker dropping off fresh bread. You can ask questions, learn about the source, and make choices that align with how you want to eat and spend. It's a simple, grounded experience that respects your time and your priorities.

Here's what makes a visit to Rooted different:

  • Fresh produce selected from East Texas farms, chosen for flavor and seasonality rather than shelf life alone
  • Grab-and-go options that save you prep time while keeping ingredients honest and recognizable
  • Coffee and teas served with care, offering a quiet break or a quick boost depending on your day
  • A welcoming presence in Murchison that also serves Tyler, Athens, Lindale, Buller, and Canton with the same local focus

Consistent Standards Across Every Season

Rooted operates with the same steady attention that DJ Warren has brought to the Athens Market for nearly fifteen seasons. That experience translates into how products are chosen, how relationships with growers are maintained, and how the shop runs day to day. There's no guesswork about quality or sourcing—just a proven track record of putting local food and local people first.

You're not just shopping at a store; you're tapping into a network of farmers and makers who've been part of this community for years. That continuity means you can count on finding the same care in every visit, whether it's your first time or your fiftieth. Rooted is here to be a reliable part of your routine, grounded in the values that have shaped East Texas agriculture and craftsmanship for generations.

If you're in Murchison, Tyler, Athens, Lindale, Buller, or Canton, come by and experience what local really means.

We live in Brownsboro, TX now… but noted on a drive west to Athens a new ‘Rooted’ market & coffee stop right on the Hwy 31 in Murchison.  The market carries locally made & sourced products from the area. We stopped in for our first visit a few days later and really enjoyed the place.  I ordered a Mexican Chiapas coffee and my wife picked out some cranberry orange muffins.  We consumed those on location and met a lady that we conversed with and befriended… nice time.  We also bought 2 kinds of locally made stuffed olives, salsa, & Rosemary Garlic Bread.  Everything has been delicious!  We’ll be back!

Rooted Local Grocer is a true gem in Murchison Texas.  The store offers a thoughtful mix of home kitchen goods, fresh meats, coffee, baked goods, and both fresh and canned produce. Everything feels high-quality and intentionally curated. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is warm, and it’s clear this shop is committed to supporting local makers and growers. A wonderful place to shop and a great addition to the community.
